English

This subject develops command of the English language system: grammar for precise relationships, vocabulary for exact meaning, pronunciation for intelligibility, and the ability to understand and produce connected speech and writing. The concrete outcome is independent English use in daily life, work, and presentations; an IELTS result may measure progress but does not define the curriculum.

Success looks like

  • Build statements, negatives, questions, and commands with reliable English word order and auxiliaries
  • Choose tense and aspect to express present, past, completion, duration, sequence, and future meaning
  • Control countability, articles, quantifiers, pronouns, and subject-verb agreement
  • Express certainty, possibility, obligation, advice, politeness, conditions, and imagined alternatives
  • Combine and reduce clauses to express cause, contrast, purpose, condition, and relative information
  • Use common verb patterns, dependent prepositions, and phrasal verbs without translating word by word
  • Grow vocabulary through word families, collocations, connotation, register, and repeated retrieval
  • Paraphrase accurately and connect ideas through reference, substitution, repetition, and linking expressions
  • Speak intelligibly using word stress, sentence stress, rhythm, thought groups, and connected speech
  • Hear both meaning and grammatical form in extended standard speech
  • Sustain and repair daily and professional conversations with flexible language
  • Write coherent paragraphs, concise professional messages, and structured explanations or presentations
  • Diagnose recurring language gaps from real output and maintain a spaced, interleaved practice system
